Nothing makes a statement like a sparkly dress! 

The rule #1 to follow is that sequins are bold and eye-catching, so let your dress stand on its own. If you keep the rest of your look lowkey, your dress will keep the focus on you. 

Rule #2 keep your shoes neutral! Nude tones, silver or gold match the best ;) 

Rule #3 make sure your bag has no bling on it and is not shiny in any way (and that includes ditching patent leather of any ilk)

Rule #4 when you’re wearing sequin apparel, especially a dress or long gown, don’t even THINK about a necklace. Skip the bracelet. No drop earrings.
